Frequently Asked Questions
I'm a small business owner. What can a website do for me?
A well built website can offer your business many advantages, including:
- A more professional image
- Improved branding
- Increased sales
- An inexpensive advertising channel
- A competitive edge
- Better customer relations
- Reduced operating costs
...just to name a few.
Can't I just design my own website?
Sure! Especially if you enjoy HTML, CSS, SSL, XML, PHP, DHTML, Flash and JavaScript. But seriously, we all know people who have built there own websites, and some of them even come out looking pretty decent. But there's much more to a website than what meets the eye. You'll want to make sure that your website is secure from online vandals, reliable, easily updatable, efficient, easy to use, and above all, a valuable asset for your company. In order for your website to attain all of these things, we recommend that you choose a professional design firm to develop it for you.
Would I need to use L.A. Web Pros to revise and update our website?
No. While we certainly hope that our clients will return to L.A. Web Pros for their future Web development needs, there is nothing that prevents them from seeking another service provider. After we complete a website, we give the client (1) all the source files and code (2) a document which contains all the passwords, usernames, database information and any other information related to the website. This is everything any experienced Web developer needs to be able to implement further updates.
How long does it typically take to build a site?
There are many factors that determine the time required to complete a website. On average, it takes between 10 to 20 workdays to complete a basic website, or between 20 and 60 workdays for a larger, more complex website.
How much input will I have in the development process?
You can have as much or as little input as you desire! Obviously, at the very least, you'll be intimately involved with defining the overall direction and outcomes of the project. Beyond that, we've found that some clients prefer to have a say in every little detail of the project, while other clients prefer to simply be notified when the website is ready to go live. Your level of involvement will ultimately depend on you, and this is something that we'll discuss early in the development process.
If I already have a site, can you help me improve it?
Yes. We can often renovate an existing website for less cost than building an entirely new one from scratch. Whether your company's website looks outdated, is confusing to visitors, or lacks some sorely needed capabilities, L.A. Web Pros will work with you to put together a solution that makes the most sense for your business.
Can you guarantee that my site will be listed on the first page of Google?
No, and no reputable company should make these guarantees! However, all of the websites we design, optimize and submit to the major search engines are eventually indexed.
What kind of services will I need once the website is completed?
Some websites require minimal regular maintenance while others require daily updates. We'll both learn a lot about your website's ongoing needs once we complete a formal Needs Analysis.
Is it true that my website can actually help my employees do their jobs?
Yes! While many businesses realize that the Internet is a great channel for expanding their sales or branding, few are aware of the opportunities for increasing worker efficiency and reducing expenses. Moving select business processes onto the internet opens numerous valuable possibilities.
I'm not located in your state (or country). Can you still help me?
Yes! We've developed, designed, and maintained websites for customers around the world. One of the great things about the internet is that it allows us to easily maintain relationships with our clients and customers no matter where they're located.
